You know that musical theatre song everyone was singing on TikTok in 2020? "Little Miss Perfect?"
That's all Joriah Kwamé.
And believe it or not, it wasn't part of a musical. In fact, it was written for a competition helmed by Mean Girls star Taylor Louderman.
In this episode, host and actor Maggie Bera chats with Joriah about how Little Miss Perfect went from a viral hit to a full-fledged musical to be staged at Goodspeed Musicals, how he used the momentum from TikTok and YouTube to have his work commissioned at major theatre companies, and what you should keep your eye out for!
Joriah Kwamé is an artist based in NYC. He is most known for writing "Little Miss Perfect" by Taylor Louderman, which has grossed millions of views and inspired a Broadway-aimed musical of the same name. With Pasek and Paul, he co-wrote "Top Of The World" for the Sony Picture Film LYLE LYLE CROCODILE, performed by Shawn Mendes. Current commissions: Chicago Shakespeare Theater (SINISTER), Goodspeed Musicals (LITTLE MISS PERFECT). 2020 Johnny Mercer Songwriting project alum. Johnny Baker is the best fiddler in Georgia, and he aims to prove it. But his boasting attracts the attention of another fiddler – the Devil himself – who shows up with a plan for Johnny’s destruction. Douglas and his wife actress, Annabelle Fox, play opposite each other which makes their onstage love story all the more captivating.
